About TEDI

The Technology Empowered Dementia Independence (TEDI) Network Plus brings together people living with dementia, families, researchers, designers, and care professionals to explore how technology can support independence and wellbeing.

Funded by UK Research and Innovation, TEDI connects communities and universities to co-create new ways of living well with dementia. Through our community hubs, visioning sessions, and innovation projects, we aim to shape technologies that reflect people’s lived experiences, challenge inequalities, and build a more inclusive future for dementia care.

Core Themes

Our network activity is centred around four key themes. These focus our community engagements and frame areas of interest for our network members.

Inequality

Taking an intersectional approach to reaching those most negatively affected by dementia in our communities.

Independence

Embracing tech for good to change, adapt, and improve ways of independent living in the home and at work.

Innovation

Community-led hubs for technology education and innovation, taking a design-led approach to building on shared opportunities.

Integration

Developing tech systems that simplify, work with what we already use, and enable everyday life in a connected, seamless way.

Innovation in the Community

Participation and involvement is as the heart of what we do. We work closely with members of the community, families, carers, and researchers to help light the way to technology futures for people living with dementia.

The Dementia Innovation Studio

The Dementia Innovation Studio is the creative heart of TEDI, where researchers, communities, and people with dementia co-design technologies and services that support independence and quality of life.
