Newcastle and North Tyneside Tech Hubs from April 2026
Tech Hubs
What are Tech Hubs?
Friendly spaces to explore technology for people living with dementia, and the people who care for them.
Our initial scoping work is complete.
Over the past months, we ran sessions across 20 community venues in Newcastle and North Tyneside to understand what gets in the way of people living with dementia using technology - confusing devices, lack of support, or simply not knowing what's out there.
Thank you to everyone who took part.
Your experience, honesty, and time have shaped what a Tech Hub could look like - and will directly inform how we take this forward.
What's next?
We're now looking to work with partners interested in taking Tech Hubs further — rolling them out independently across the North East and North Cumbria (NENC) Integrated Care Board area.
If you're an organisation, community venue, or care provider interested in getting involved with the next phase, we'd love to hear from you.

Want to know more about the original research?
You can still download the participant information sheet from our scoping phase, which explains the research in plain English — including what data we collected, how it's stored, and participants' right to withdraw.
This research was conducted by Northumbria University and is part of the TEDI (Technology Empowered Dementia Independence) project, funded by UKRI/EPSRC.
